Point-in-Time Count (PIT) and Housing Inventory Count (HIC)

The PIT count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons on a single night in January. HUD requires that Continuums of Care conduct an annual count of homeless persons who are sheltered in emergency shelter, transitional housing, and Safe Havens on a single night.

CoCs are also required to report occupancy numbers for all projects on the HIC for the night of the PIT.

The date for the 2019 count has already been voted on and approved by the MCoC:

Night of the Count - Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019

Data can continue to be collected on the following nights, but MUST reference where the respondent stayed on the night of the PIT Count.
